Experience the Johannite Tradition
Initiated by the Baptist, transmitted by the Apostle, and restored in the modern era, the Apostolic Johannite Church enacts the Johannite Tradition through an esoteric, Gnostic and Christian path of spiritual understanding and self-discovery. Ignited in community, nurtured by individual practice, and fed by service, the Sacred Flame of Gnosis embodied in the tradition of the Holy Saints John, lives anew through the work of the Apostolic Johannite Church.
Holy Sophia Narthex of the Apostolic Johannite Church is a lay community dedicated to fostering an environment of openness and mutual respect, supporting its members in their personal journey towards spiritual awakening and inner Gnosis.
We adopt a genuinely scholarly approach to the exploration of spiritual experience, incorporating elements of mysticism, Johannite liturgical practices, esotericism, and the study of Gnostic texts alongside spiritual literature from diverse array of traditions.
Our community and traditions are inclusive of all individuals, upholding a stance of equality and respect, regardless of religious beliefs or sectarian affiliations. We warmly welcome people of all genders as well as all members of LGBTQIA+ community, people with disability, and all peoples who continue to be marginalised by organised religion.
We welcome people of all (or no) faiths, denominations, and organisations, without discrimination.
We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather and seek wisdom. We honour their Elders past and present, and recognise their enduring relationship with land, waters, and Spirit. In reverence and gratitude, we give thanks for Country and for the ancient knowing it holds.
May the light of the Sacred Flame illuminate your path.
